Happy October! At this time of the year, we may be tempted to disguise ourselves in all kinds of fun ways. But until the 31st, I challenge you to embrace you with confidence and pride. We are all likely aware of the ways in which deficiencies of any kind can have an affect on our self-confidence. Hearing, while pertinent to social interaction, also plays a surprisingly big role in an individual’s self-view. Which is why we’d like to take this week’s blog post, the first of the month of October, as the chance to show that you don’t always need a mask to be confident and outgoing; improving your hearing can improve your self-confidence, which is the most attractive thing of all.

If someone has difficulty hearing or experiences hearing loss, they are more likely to be shyer or more timid in general. A great deal of worry or anxiety often revolves around hearing loss, as person-to-person conversations become quite stressful. Unfortunately, some find themselves concerned that their difficulty hearing another person properly will result in offense or frustration.

Improving one’s hearing with hearing aids can make a huge difference. With the assistance of hearing aids, one can approach conversations with more confidence, aware that they can now hear with more clarity and volume than before. It is more likely that they will feel more outgoing, more excited about the prospects of any given activity – be it a party, a date at a noisy bar, or a baseball game (but not a Sox game, unfortunately). The improved sound and clarity helps to remove the anxiety surrounding these types of social activities, while also allowing the person to put him or herself out there more often. Communication becomes easier and more direct. Take it from any of our satisfied patients, who’ve expressed excitement at the chance to communicate normally – without worry or insecurity.

Improved commhearingdateunication can also improve relationships – be those familial, professional, friendly, or romantic. Without the roadblock ofhearing difficulty, people can communicate their needs, wants, concerns, and feelings clearly. In the workplace, tasks can be conveyed openly and are more likely to be completed with accuracy. And in day-to-day interactions, one’s confidence shines. That confidence makes the person more approachable and more attractive to others.

Improving one’s hearing becomes an essential necessity that can benefit nearly every aspect of one’s life. So this month, try not to let the Halloween fears creep in too much – if you have a hearing loss, you deserve the chance to hear clearly, to feel good about yourself, and be the person you want to be.
