January brings some great gatherings and events geared toward individuals with hearing loss looking for warm and welcoming support groups. Check them out!

Quiet Restaurant Night:

Straddling the Divide, a group sponsored by Boston’s Hearing Loss Association of America, will host a dinner at the lovely Elephant Walk Restaurant in Cambridge on Friday, January 16th, at 6:30 PM. The Elephant Walk was chosen for its lighting and low volume, allowing for a better hearing environment. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and connect with others with hearing loss. More information and a link to RSVP can be found here.

Auditory Training Hands-On Workshop:

This workshop, led by Geoff Plant, President of Somerville’s Hearing Rehabilitation Foundation, strives to see if persons with hearing loss can learn how to listen more effectively. Participants get a first-hand look at four individuals taking part in auditory training sessions. A lively group discussion will follow, and refreshments and baked goods will be served. Saturday, January 24th, at 1:30 PM at Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, 243 Charles Street, Boston: Meltzer Auditorium, 3rd floor.

Monthly Book & Light Dinner Group:

Straddling the Divide gathers for their monthly book club, this time to discuss Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng. All participants are welcome, even if you don’t have time to finish the book. Click here to RSVP for the event on Sunday, January 25th. (Location given upon RSVP.)
